The coconut of the Chile grows on poor, dry soils, its growth is very slow early but began to accelerate from the 15th year. With age, its trunk can reach 25 meters in height, for 1 to 2 meters in diameter and 4/5 meters in circumference. This smooth stipe is gray, wider at the base under the Crown, often marked large scars left by the base of petioles.
Jubaea chilensis is a Palm tree whose trunk is the largest in proportion to the height. With age, the trunk narrows at the top, sometimes taking the form of a bottle.
The Crown includes 40 to 50 pinnate leaves of 3 to 5 metres in length and rigid fins 50.
This Palm loses its fins naturally when they have dried.
Many cultivated specimens of Jubaea chilensis arrive in Europe as early as 1843.
In France, almost commonly found on the French Riviera of the centuries-old subjects. Many specimens are visible on the Basque coast and Britain.
